The 2008 Covenant International festival was held in Deredawa for the first time, since we have opened the project in this city . The children and their family attended the festive occasion. It was a time of interaction with guest from
Canada and
Addis Ababa
Ethiopia. The family again expressed their gratefulness for the donation they are getting for their children from our ministry and asked to thank both the sponsors and donors in
Canada.


Belete, one of our sponsored child to the right has become a gifted singer and student in his school. He sang his favorite gospel songs to the families, the children and gusts in this year children festival in Debrbrhan. He also told the gusts from Canada, he was first from his class in his academic achievement test for this year. Thanks to our sponsors, the children to the left are seen enjoying the newly built slide and other playground equipment in our kindergarten. This is their first slide and gaming equipment in their life time, since they did not have any facility or playground in their community that has any equipment for children.
Covenant Partners Gary & Glory Meldrum of Edmonton, Canada, wrote a pictorial book about Covenant work in
Ethiopia after visiting our project area for three days. The title of their book is called
Ethiopia : A journey to the centre of our hearts. The Meldrum also adopted a boy from
Ethiopia and brought him to
Canada in this trip. We thank the Maldrum for their support and encouragement of our work in
Ethiopia . We believe their generosity and example will be inspiration to others and encourage many people to do the same.

Covenant International,
received appreciation certificate for its outstanding achievement from the regional government in one of its project area. The certificate states “Your organization has been operating in the zone for many years implementing different development programs & projects that greatly benefited the target area in particular and the peoples of the Zone in general. The North Shoa Zone Administration expresses its heartfelt thanks & gratitude in the name of the people of the Zone to your organization and project staff for your good & valuable development partnership and contribution effected so far.”

Covenant International in
Ethiopia recently participated on African Child Holiday festival held in
Deredawa ,
Ethiopia . Both our children and our stuff in this city enjoyed this very special event. It is our firm belief and core strategy to participate and network with other like minded development organization. This will allow us to learn from them and as well as share what we have with them. It was reported to us the occasion was educational, fun and informative.
Covenant International donated substantial amount of money to one of the Government school were some of our children attend. This money will be spent to build fence to the school and material to the library. The principal of the school expressed his gratitude to Covenant workers. This investment will greatly help the school and the community children at large.
Fund, to buy a Motor Bike in one of our project area in
Ethiopia was donated by one of our partner in
Edmonton ,
Canada . The project coordinator Mr.Befkadu said, the bike will greatly enhance the effectiveness of their work to the community. The bike will enable them to visit the children regularly, since the office and the community were the children lives are apart by five kilo metere.
Many office furniture, computers and printers was donated by Economic Commission of Africa in
Addis Ababa
Ethiopia to our head office and Regional office .This will greatly enhance our effectiveness in our work Both in the head office and regional office.
Seventeen unemployed women’s have enrolled in our women’s empowerment program. These women's will receive training and financial assistant on the form of micro loan to help them become self-sufficient. Some of the project focus is:- animal husbandry, making Engera (the local stable food of
Ethiopia ) for sell and opening up a small merchandize shop are the main one. These ladies all live in the community were we are helping our sponsored children. Once this program is completed, the next round of women’s will be registered to the women empowerment program. |
